West Bromwich Albion came from two goals behind to rescue a point against Burnley at Turf Moor, a result which does little to ease the relegation fears of both clubs.

Sean Dyche's Clarets stormed into a two-goal lead through Ashley Barnes and top goalscorer Danny Ings, but were caught napping before the break with Chris Brunt’s close-range header.

And the visitors drew level through an unlikely source when substitute Brown Ideye converted Brunt’s corner and finished stronger than their opponents, who squandered a two-goal lead for the second time in threePremier League matches.

The Baggies record at Burnley leaves little to be desired with only one win in now 14 visits, so Tony Pulis will be the happier of the two managers with a scrappy draw, even more so considering their lacklustre start.

West Brom looked disjointed from the off as the hosts made a confident opening when an alert Ings pinched possession on the edge of the box, before firing over with a fizzing effort.

Scott Arfield then had the Baggies defence sweating, wrapping his foot beautifully around a loose ball inside the box, but was foiled by the brilliance of Ben Foster who tipped his effort onto the crossbar.

However, the Scot was involved in the Clarets opener on ten minutes, teeing up Ings with an intelligent header who unselfishly chose to hang an inviting delivery across the face of goal, which was met by the head of Ashley Barnes.

An early enforced change for Tony Pulis saw the introduction of Saido Berahino for Victor Anichebe, but it was Joleon Lescott who offered the visitors' first meaningful attempt on goal with a strained header over the bar.

Few would doubt that Ings has been Burnley’s talisman this season, and his predatory finish on 32 minutes quelled the visitors’ brief flurry and established full control for Sean Dyche’s side. The 22-year-old drifted into the box to convert George Boyd’s sweeping cross with the sort of finish that has linked the striker with moves to Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, such is the Premier League, Burnley’s dominance counted for nothing when West Brom equalised on the cusp of half-time. And it was as simple as you like for Pulis’ men who had lacked imagination throughout a dismal first 45, as Brunt tiptoed into the area unmarked to nod Callum McManaman’s corner past a wandering Tom Heaton.

The goal changed the complexion of the match after the restart but West Brom still but had no answer for Kieran Trippier’s marauding runs down the right, and the 24-year-old nearly produced a telling cross for Barnes, although the former Brighton man was well marshalled by Craig Dawson.

But another corner brought another goal for the Baggies just after the hour mark. Brunt turned from scorer to provider with a swinging delivery onto the head of Brown Ideye, West Brom’s record signing, who made no mistake with a thumping header – only a second league goal of the season for the £10million man.

Jason Shackell then engaged in some head tennis with Lescott when a towering header had the Burnley skipper wheeling away in celebration, but the former Manchester City defender was on hand with a goal-line clearance.

Then, in a late end-to-end onslaught, a combination of Ben Mee and Heaton was required to prevent Berahino from poking the away side in front, before Michael Kightly smashed the ball goal bound, but in the way was Dawson with some heroic defending to rescue the Baggies.

Neither side will be happy with a point, but both could have squandered all three in an entertaining draw.
